Once the grand Berninzon mansion, this historic home stands like a forgotten dream, its wooden balconies whispering secrets of Lima’s Republican era. Approaching on foot, the details reveal themselves slowly—the scent of old wood, the soft creak of the grand staircase, the lace-like eaves that seem to dance with the wind.
Walking past its towering iron gates, I pause, feeling the weight of history in the hushed courtyard, where time lingers in the carvings and cobbled paths.
But with dusk, the mansion shifts. A warm glow spills from its windows, the soft hum of conversation drifting through the air. Now home to Ayahuasca Restobar, it breathes new life into these walls, where history and modern-day revelry entwine.
I take a seat beneath the glow of hanging lights, a cocktail in hand, and listen—not just to the laughter, but to the echoes of the past, still alive beneath my feet.
On February 25, 2025, we enjoyed some food and drinks at Ayahuasca Restobar, located in the historic Berninzon Mansion.
